The Debut of the Kids Art Fest

The Kids Art Festival debuts on June 4th of Festival weekend. Local children ages 5 – 18 will be on hand to display and sell their creations. This will be a highlight event of the weekend. Come out and support these talented young artists.

GABBF Kids Art Fest Full Application First Come, first Serve so apply soon.  Accepting up to 50 artists.  $10 fee (need based scholarships are available.) Application deadline is May 15, 2016 (we extended the deadline.)

Umbrella Decorating for Kids

Paint your Umbrella and join the second-line parade thru downtown on Friday afternoon of Bayou and Brass.

Dates & Times
2 sessions to choose from
Saturday, May 21, 10 a.m. to 12 noon
Wednesday, May 25, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Class Location
Community Arts Center , 401 West Main Street, Danville

5 to 12, must be accompanied by an adult

Fee:  Free!  Free umbrellas (made of sturdy paper) to the first 20 people to sign up. Decorations provided or bring your own.
Class Size:  Limited to 20 kids each.  Call (859-236-4054) or stop by the Community Arts Center to register.

**Parents please note: Umbrellas will be collected at end of session and redistributed to each child at the 2nd Line Parade.

2nd Line Parade
This new event will be held on Friday, June 3rd.  The 2nd Line Parade will leave from Constitution Square and will end at Weisiger Park. Meet at the stage at Constitution Square at 4:30 PM. Bayou & Brass activities begin at noon at Constitution Square and end at 10:00 PM at Weisiger Park.

Over Festival Weekend

New Orleans food & fun for the whole family.  Bounce Fun, Face Painting, 2nd Line Parade, Street Performers, Kids Activities, and Live Magician Performances.

Advocate Brass Band’s Children’s Concert at Weisiger Park on Saturday, June 4th from 9:00 AM – 9:50 AM.  This concert is full! Come watch our local children in action.

People’s Parade on Main Street Saturday, June 4th at 11:00 AM.  11+ bands, cars, beads and so much fun. This is also the time for the Wagons and Wheels contest, a favorite event for families during the parade.

Wagons and Wheels Contest during the Parade-This year’s Wagons and Wheels contest is presented by Little Paws Piano and Music. To register for the Wagons and Wheels Contest please fill out the entry form below with the fee to Little Paws: Wagons and Wheels 2016 Entry Form

Great American Kazoo Band – Presented by Little Paws Piano Studios.  We will create a band that will play in the GABBF parade. Registration of $25 by May 6 includes a t shirt, kazoo, and one rehearsal on Wednesday, June 1 at Millennium Park. Join the festival fun. This event is for children 5 and up.  Click here for more information.

The Creation Station, free on Centre’s Campus Saturday, June 4th from Noon – 4:30 PM. Instrument Petting Zoo, Children’s Stage performances,  Art Activities sponsored by Bluegrass Green Source, Community Arts Center, Josephine Sculpture Park, Bubble Bug, Squalis Puppets and many other partners.  Click the link for specific details.

Kids 2016 T-shirt Contest

Congrats to Emily White, from Boyle County Middle, this year’s winner of the Youth T-shirt Contest. Be sure to come out in June to buy this local design from our Festival market.  Thank you to all who participated, this year’s applications were inspiring and truly terrific. The Festival is lucky to have such creativity to choose from!
