The Fillmore Wind Band is the city of Cincinnati’s official wind ensemble and namesake of Cincinnati-native and march king, Henry Fillmore. Founded in 2010, the group consists of musicians from the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky areas, and is part of the Fillmore Wind Program, which includes the Fillmore Philharmonic Brass, Chamber Winds, and the Wind Band.
Paying homage to the late Henry Fillmore, the mission of the band is to promote high-quality wind literature in addition to preserving the audience-friendly, entertaining programs of the original Fillmore Band, conducted by Henry himself.
Recent performances include invitations to the prestigious 2017 Midwest Clinic in Chicago, IL, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s 2016 American Music Festival at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, the 2013 and 2016 Ohio Music Educators Association Conference, the 2015 Kentucky Music Educators Association Conference, and the 2014 International Women’s Brass Conference. The band also presented a “March Performance Practice” clinic at the 2016 Midwest Clinic. In 2018, the organization began sponsoring “WindFest” at Cincinnati Music Hall, which invites the area’s premiere high school programs to perform alongside the Fillmore Band in this historic venue.
We’re excited to bring the Fillmore Band to the Great American Brass Band Festival!
