The Great American Picnic

In addition to a front row seats to enjoy Saturday night's performances, those who purchase a table have the option to decorate their tables and to compete for three great prizes! Our volunteer judges will visit the tables and evaluate them based on originality, wow-factor, humor, costumes, and use of color to choose this year's winners.

Theme for 2019: "With A Little Help From Our Friends"

Learn How & Why The Theme Was Selected

With A Little Help From Our Friends

In this, the year of our 30th Great American Brass Band Festival, we have chosen a theme that embraces the roots of this all-volunteer, not-for-profit, community event.

First let us say that it could never have happened without the thousands of volunteers who have joined the GABBF effort over the last three decades. Some gave a few hours, some gave hundreds, and many continue to give every year. Your dedication is unparalleled. Thank you! For this reason, we have selected, “With a little help from our friends” as the 2019 theme.

People from all walks of life, of all ages, and all backgrounds come together to make this special event happen every year. This type of neighbor-to-neighbor approach is one of the reasons this community is the one we all know and love.

To each and every one of you who have given of your time, your talents and your money – thank you! To all our volunteers, our donors, our sponsors we want to say we would never have made it this far without each and every one of you.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! (We simply can’t say it enough!) And for those who are volunteering for the first time, giving for the first time and sponsoring for the first time, we say “Welcome!” You are going to enjoy your involvement with the Great American Brass Band Festival. We certainly enjoy having you working alongside us.

Here’s to the NEXT 30 years!

For this 30th year of the festival, we are celebrating all the personalities, individual talents and the rich history of the people involved in the Great American Brass Band Festival. As the designer, John Dixon, noted, "If we had included all the people who have helped to make the GABBF a success, the poster would be the size of a billboard!"

As it is, a varied collection of musicians, volunteers, community leaders and others who are a few of the thousands who make the Festival great -- past, present, and future -- are included in this year's poster. We expect this one to be a fan favorite -- and have ordered 1000 to meet demand, but when they are gone, they are gone, so get yours now!

You can order them online, or you can stop by our office in downtown Danville to pick one up! (Be sure to call first, because things are pretty busy right now and that requires us to be in -- and out -- of the office and we would hate to miss you!)
